​

I walk up to my room. I go to the closet and get a box of ammo to fill Betty. While I am filling her, my phone rings. It’s Tilly, my bestie.

 

“Hey Til, what’s going on?”

 

“I was wondering if this weekend is okay for you to get away for a girls' weekend. I have a place for us to work this weekend. It’s nothing too big, and the fans will love it.”

“What did you get us into, Til?”

 

“Oh, I might have gotten us into a rodeo this weekend. Everyone has been saying you’re riding and looking great. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, except the grand entry. Everyone wants to see you ride.”

​

I push the box of ammo to the side and sit. “I need to get with Bull and the Ravens to see what’s going on. I will let you know tonight.”

 

We will have fun. I promise. Talk to you later. Oh, and I miss you.”

 

I sigh. “I miss you, too. We do definitely need bestie time.”

 

“What’s going on?”

 

“A lot. It’s been a long morning. Trying not to break down. Just trying to stay busy.”

 

“Oh, friend, don’t do that. It took forever to get out of the funk.”

 

“Well, I partially am in a funk. There are threats being made, and they are serious. Between you and me, one involves you that is serious if I don’t come to the rodeo with you. I want to come, but I also don’t. I will have maybe one or two of the Raven watching out for me, but they have threats of their own. So freaking frustrating. We never had this many threats before.”

“I told you that the Ravens were bad news, Ter. They bring this on us. Let’s get through the weekend and see what happens. This will stay between you and me. There are enough problems here at my ranch, and we don’t need to add this one. I will see you soon. I love you, and we will get through this.”

​

I sigh. The door opens, and it’s Bull. “I have to go, love you too.”
